Please, anyone, let me know if one day you discover an organization or company (public or private), or « someone » in the world helping the autistics to organize themselves (as networks or associations) to build self-advocacy, self-help, peer support, autonomy, freedom, defense etc. ; without limits of age or « level » or country.
We are 1% of the world.
I cannot manage to find an answer to this question, this quest.
Autism is not a « puzzle » at all for me, but this question, yes definitely.
How can we build any autistics organizations, without any means ?????

Infelizmente, não tem tempo disponível para fazer um relatório sobre esse encontro, nem para processar as gravações de áudio.

A “Casa de Brincar” é um lugar muito bom, onde os pais podem participar dos jogos e da ajuda proporcionada aos seus filhos, e então eles sabem melhor como se comportar com eles em casa.

No dia 17 de dezembro de 2016, nos reunimos na Casa dos Direitos Humanos, no centro de Belo Horizonte, capital do Estado de Minas Gerais, para conversas entre autistas e pais, durante 3 horas.
Foi organizado pelo Instituto Superação.
Foi, mais uma vez, muito interessante.

Aqui estão uma foto de alguns dos participantes e uma gravação de áudio (como um clipe do Youtube).
É principalmente em português. Eu falou em inglês (exceto no início, em espanhol) e foi resumido em português.
Eu não tenho tempo para fazer um resumo com atalhos (links) como no passado, mas se um voluntário quer fazê-lo, entre em contato conosco.

On the 17th of december 2016, we have met at the House of the Human Rights in the center of Belo Horizonte, the capital city of the state of Minas Gerais in Brazil, for talks between autstics and parents, during 3 hours.
It was organized by the Instituto Superação.
It was, once again, very interesting.

Here are a picture of some of the participants, and an audio recording (as a Youtube clip).
It is mostly in portuguese. I spoke in english (except at the beginning, in spanish) and it was summed up it portuguese.
I do not have the time to make a summary with shortcuts (links) like in the past, but if a volunteer wants to do it, please contact us.

On the 15th of november 2016, I’ve been invited to a meeting with parents, for a questions & answers session, which lasted almost 3 hours, in Manaus, the capital city of the state of Amazonas in Brazil. It was very cool.

I would like to find some time someday to put the audio recording online, like I used to do in the past.

On the picture below, you see some of the parents, and some autistics (Bruno Dantas, with the red T-shirt ; Mateus, with the white  stripes ; and me with my cap and my usual masking system).


No dia 15 de novembro de 2016, eu fui convidado para uma reunião com pais, por uma sessão de questãos e respostas, que durou quase 3 horas, em Manaus, a capital do estado do Amazonas no Brasil. Estava muito otimo.

[pt][en] “A celebration of autism and the autistics” : 1º Encontro Brasileiro de Pessoas Autistas (First Brazilian Meeting of Autistic Persons) – Fortaleza, 22-24 september 2016 – with Eric LUCAS

I have had the great luck of participating to the first national forum of autistics in Brazil, from the 22th until the 24th of september 2016, organized by Abraça in the city of Fortaleza.

“The autistics do not deserve to be rejected just because they are persons who have a “strange” behaviour…”
(This is the spontaneous answer of this young autistic boy, when asked to say something to the world.)

First Brazilian Meeting of Autistics

I was really amazing.
A historic moment for autism.

Certainly one of the best country-level big events for us the autistics, in the world, and definitely an example for the other countries.

It was organized by both autistics and parents, and the mix was perfect ; the autistic were not just “guests” in a “congress about autism”, they were central, for me it was really a celebration of autism and the autistics, in a very good atmosphere, simplicity, sincerity, good sense, true things, many songs, many laughs, some tears… autism is true life !

I have met really fantastic people, proving that every autistic, with his/her originality, can (and should) enrich the world.
The most “magic” moments were when I was with Miguel Angel Fernandez Garcia, a 13 years old autistic boy from Peru, who is “like an angel“, like many autistic kids in the world.
This boy is very peaceful and kind and good…
The simple fact of being close to these kids makes each person better, they irradiate the good, and it is contagious 🙂
Probably this is the most important “autistic quality” (that only the “non-contaminated ones” -by the social system- do have).
That is why it is very important to be very careful with the adaptations, in order not to ruin stupidly some treasures and their power.

It would be long to describe the event, I don’t have the time to make an article about it, but I want to add some other important things :

  • In this event, the problem that was discussed was not autism, but the social system ;
  • We the autistics we could see our common points, see that we have similar thougths about autism and our situation, and therefore be more confident, feel stronger ;
  • Many people (almost everyone) told me that they loved what I explained, that it is so interesting and true etc. : this is important because it shows that my vision of autism and of the world is not just “personal ideas”.

I think that not only autism is not a problem, but the autistics may become more and more necessary against the problems of the world.
When you listen to my conclusion in the part 3 below (which is in english and portuguese) you can surely guess it.

This article is a draft : I have so much to do, that probably it will remain a draft…

Il y avait plus de 50 parents (et quelques autistes) et ils ont trouvé cela intéressant.

J’ai été bien reçu (avec peut-être trop d’honneurs) par les organisateurs, mais de toute façon le plus important est que les parents peuvent maintenant mieux comprendre l’autisme et leurs enfants.

On September 8, 2016, I’ve been invited to talk about my vision of autism, and other useful informations, in a conference organized by an autism association in Tetouan.

Here is an article in the local news (in arabic).

There were more than 50 parents (and some autistics) and they found it very interesting.

I have been well received (with maybe too many honors) by the organizers, but anyway the most important is that the parents can now understand better autism and their kids.

I plan to put it online (audio recording on Youtube + shortcut texts, like usual) but I am more and more overwhelmed and I don’t know when I will find the time to do it. It lasted more than 3 hours.

“Bref point de vue à propos de l’autisme, au 2 mai 2016”

Ce qu’on appelle autisme est la caractéristique des êtres humains suffisamment résistants pour, dès le début de la vie, ne pas être influencés par l’artificialité et l’absurdité de la société actuelle.
Ils conservent leur potentiel intact, notamment au niveau neurologique, ce qui leur permet de garder une grande sensibilité naturelle, et les qualités originelles (à la naissance) de tout être humain (candeur, sincérité, bonté…) sans qu’elles ne soient déformées, dénaturées et perverties par l’environnement social et ses conventions débiles.
Ils ne sont évidemment pas intéressés par l’absurdité et les préoccupations de la société actuelle, artificielle et “perdue”, et d’autre part ils sentent que plus ils sont en contact avec elle, plus ils vont perdre leur authenticité et leur intégrité, en étant “pollués” et “corrompus”, ce qui est contraire à leur essence. C’est pour cela qu’il n’y a pas de désir d’aller vers les autres, et qu’il existe des blocages dans la communication, qui sont en fait des “auto-protections”.
Lorsque l’autiste communique tout de même avec cette société, c’est dans un mode “émulation” ou “simulation” de personne “normale”, mais en conservant de toute façon leur propre référentiel personnel, ce qui explique les malentendus et inadaptations.
Nous sommes agressés en permanence par toutes sortes d’atteintes, que nous ressentons via le système neurologique (par les sens et par le cerveau). Ces atteintes viennent principalement de la société.
Nous sommes alors irrités, mais pas la société puisque pour elle les absurdités et incohérences sont “normales”. L’irritation et l’incommunicabilité, l’impossibilité de trouver des solutions et un soulagement nous font fatalement, tôt ou tard, entrer en “crise de nerfs”, et c’est à ce moment que les autres se rendent compte qu’il y a un problème. Comme ils ne voient pas les problèmes que nous subissons, ils pensent que le problème est interne à nous, et ils appellent ça “troubles”.
Au lieu d’apporter des solutions et aménagements aux choses qui nous font souffrir, et qu’ils refusent de voir car ils sont formatés par le système normalitaire majoritaire, ils portent leur attention sur nous en voulant nous “soigner”, et nous subissons toutes sortes d’injustices et de traitements aberrant (comme l’hospitalisation forcée, les médicaments), sans parler des moqueries et de l’exploitation.
Ceci nous rend alors tristes, déprimés, aigris, désespérés, parfois suicidaires, et encore plus irritables et frustrés au fil des années.

Etant donné que les médecins, qui sont obligatoirement formatés pour être médecins, ne comprennent rien à tout ça, ils nous voient comme des personnes “ayant un problème psychologique”. Et puisqu’ils nous prennent pour des malades, et se croient supérieurs et autorisés à s’occuper de nous, alors ils ne sont pas gênés par le fait qu’ils ne nous comprennent pas, et au lieu de se remettre en question et de s’interroger sur leur incapacité de comprendre, ils se bornent à penser que s’ils ne nous comprennent pas c’est tout simplement parce que nous avons “un problème dans la tête”, que dans le meilleur des cas ils appellent “autisme”.

What is called “autism” is the characteristic of the human beings strong enough to be, from the beginning of life, not influenced by the artificiality and nonsense of the current society.

Они, конечно, не заинтересованы в глупости и забот современного общества, которое является искусственным и «проигравшие». И, во-вторых, они считают, что чем больше они будут находиться в контакте с ним, тем больше они теряют свою подлинность и целостность, будучи “загрязненная” и “коррумпированной”, что противоречит их сущности.
Поэтому нет никакого желания обратиться к другим, и именно поэтому есть блокировок в сообщении, которые на самом деле своего рода “самозащиты”.
Когда аутист до сих пор общается с этим обществом, он находится в режиме “эмуляции”, или “моделирование нормального человека”, но в любом случае держать свои личные ссылочную и мысли систему, которая объясняет недопонимания и непригодность.

Lo que se llama “autismo” es la característica de los seres humanos lo suficientemente fuertes como para ser, desde el principio de la vida, no influenciada por la artificialidad y sin sentido de la sociedad actual.
Mantienen su potencial virgen, especialmente a nivel neurológico, lo que les permite mantener una alta sensibilidad natural, y las cualidades originales de cada ser humano en el comienzo de su vida (la inocencia, la sinceridad, la bondad …) sin ser distorsionadas y pervertida por el entorno social y sus convenciones estúpidos.
Ellos son, por supuesto, no está interesado en el absurdo y las preocupaciones de la sociedad actual, que es artificial y “perdido”. Y, en segundo lugar, consideran que más van a estar en contacto con él, más van a perder su autenticidad e integridad, ser “contaminado” y “corruptos”, lo cual es contrario a su esencia.
Por eso no hay ningún deseo de llegar a los demás, y que es por eso que hay bloqueos en la comunicación, que son, de hecho, una especie de “autoprotección”.
Cuando un autista todavía se comunica con esta sociedad, que está en un modo de “emulación”, o “simulación de una persona normal”, pero manteniendo todos modos su propio sistema de referencia personal y pensamiento, lo que explica los malos entendidos y falta de idoneidad.

La irritación y la incapacidad para comunicarse, para encontrar soluciones y un alivio, inevitablemente, tarde o temprano, generar un ataque de nervios, y es sólo en este momento que los demás se den cuenta de que hay un problema.
Dado que no ven los problemas que enfrentamos, piensan que el problema es interno a nosotros, y lo llaman “problemas”.
En lugar de proporcionar soluciones y adaptaciones a las cosas que nos hacen sufrir, y que se niegan a ver porque están formateados por el sistema mayoritario “normalitaristic”, quieren “curar” nosotros, y luego sufrimos todo tipo de injusticias y sin sentido tratamientos (como la hospitalización forzada, medicamentos), por no hablar, de lo contrario, la intimidación, la explotación, segregación, etc.
Entonces esto nos hace triste, deprimido, amargado, desesperado, a veces suicida, y más irritable y frustrado largo de los años.
Dado que los médicos, que están formateados por el sistema para ser médicos, no entienden nada en todo lo que (aparte de algunas excepciones raras), nos ven como personas “que tienen un problema psicológico.”
Y dado que nos ven como “enfermo”, y que se consideran superiores y se permite que cuidar de nosotros, entonces ellos no se preocupan por el hecho de que no somos, y en vez de preguntarse a sí mismos y su incapacidad para comprender entienden, que sólo piensan que si no nos entienden es simplemente porque tenemos “un problema en la cabeza”, lo que, en el mejor de los casos, que ellos llaman “autismo”.

O que é chamado de “autismo” é a característica dos seres humanos fortes o suficiente para ser, desde o início da vida, não influenciada pela artificialidade e do absurdo da sociedade atual.
Eles mantêm o seu potencial intocada, especialmente no nível neurológico, o que lhes permite manter um natural de alta sensibilidade, e as qualidades originais de cada ser humano no início de sua vida (inocência, sinceridade, bondade …) sem ser distorcida e pervertida pelo ambiente social e suas convenções estúpidas.

[en] Meeting about autism with parents and teachers in Dubai (with Eric LUCAS)

This meeting has been a little bit “chaotic” (but very interesting) and my speech abilities are sometimes “impaired” (many little hesitations (stammering / stuttering) and confusions and little english errors etc., especially at the end) because, in the morning, I experienced what I call a “neurological aggression”, due to a “non-autistic street address” (of an office).
(If you want to know more, please read at the bottom of this page, in blue.)
– All this has nothing to see with the local organisation related to autism, who is helping for these meetings, and who is really “good”, in my opinion.
– The center who hosted the meeting did their best and were very kind and helpful too, and solved quickly the little difficulties that I encountered because my higher-than-usual level of sensitivity.

On the other hand, given that my neurological system was not completely calmed down (although I slept before the meeting), this allowed to make some real-time experiences during the meeting (and most of them were related to “doors”).

In this first part, lasting about 6 mn, there is a beginning of presentation, but it was difficult to continue because it was in a large corridor (like a hall) with some space (nicely) arranged for the occasion, but, in short, without “protection” and with too many risks of “distractions”.
Anyway it is interesting to listen to this “beginning”, to understand better the rest of the meeting, because this real-time experience of autistic special needs is mentioned or used several times during the talks.

Note :
The word *hospitality* in the United Arab Emirates (see the pictures) has a different meaning than in France, where it means forced detention, in *hospitals* (and “centers”), for the autistics and other persons with different needs, with thousands spending all their (non-)life like that, to satisfy the medico-financial lobbies, covered by public authorities “unabled” to do the necessary (or “disabled public services”).

Very short description of the “non-autistic street address” problem (and other minor “Non-Autistic Troubles”) experienced in the morning, by Eric :

(Please not that all these little problems are not due to the country (the UAE), which is very serious, and appreciated by me, but to foreign people and companies.)

In order to solve an administrative problem (not related to this country, but to another one, with a visa service), I had to waste hours trying to find an office in the city, with a very “non-autistic adress” : no street name, no number, but only “relative” informations, like names of buildings (not appearing anywhere on the buildings, and not known by people in the area), and such things, which forced me to ask information to people, who were of course telling me their “beliefs”, which were very different (everyone having his own opinion about where this place could be…).
On top of that, I had to search by foot, under the sun, after the taxi dropped to the first place (that I naively believed was the “address”, given that I showed him the 4 lines describing it…).
After some time walking and searching and asking, I started to make pictures and even voice recordings, which will allow to analyse this situation later, when I (or someone willing to assist) will have the time.
This is a very typical “Non-Autistic Trouble” that we have to live all the time.
It is not so terrible, and not the first time, but it is the addition of such things, all the day, weeks, years, which makes “damages”.
In conclusion I lost 3 hours, to get an answer (in short : “we cannot process your visa request”) that I could have got with their site if it was written correctly, or by email if they answered, or by phone if it was not permanently busy…
But, sorry, I am autistic… I have to adapt to people who do not even know their address (etc.).
One of the good things in the experience, is that instead of “suffering alone under the sun”, as soon as I started to make pictures and audio recording of my “quest” wanderings in the blocks (which lasted 1h 15 !), I was much less irritated, because I knew I could share later, to explain this kind of problems but also to get confirmation (or explanations ?) about who is to blame, what else I could have done etc. (given that the taxis are useless to find a place, and that I hard a hard time with the “Google Maps” service on my phone, with the 4 lines of the given “address”, not to mention that I first arrived to another office of the same company, which was not the correct one (thanks to “social communications”…), where they gave me again the “address” but with different words (more useful, btw.).

Just after this “non-autistic address issue”, I had another little story in the post office : given that (apparently) there is no mailbox where I could throw the letter, I had, once again, to *ask someone* working in the post office (i.e. to use the social, relative resources) : I showed him my postcard, asking where to put it, but you know that because *I* have “autistic communication problems”, then the others do not listen to me, so at first he believed that I wanted to go to the place on the postcard ! Then I showed him the address and the *stamp* to show that the card was ready to send, and he believed that I was looking for stamps ! A possible explanation to this, could be that “everyone knows” where the maibox is (therefore, my question would be too much unusual), but no : someone finally told me to go to “counter 4”. I know I am “autistic” and I make efforts to be adapted, but attempting to send a postcard in a post-office is not something so much “crazy” and weird bla bla bla…

While writing this text I had to go to close correctly a banging door many times with the wind, despite the fact that the people living in the rooms (foreign “backpackers”) have seen my problem with this door, but of course given that they are not annoyed by this noise, it is “my problem”.

And the worst of all is that, a few hours ago, I attempted to sleep (in the afternoon), but I was woken with a start (like bursting) because the cleaner slightly touched my foot when cleaning the floor (I think I was just starting to be asleep). It was terrible and I shouted immediately and “jumped” out of the bed.
So, don’t tell me that autism is “psychologic” or “psychiatric” : I was *sleeping* and I reacted (strongly) one second after the “sensory aggression” (I did not even have the time to analyze or to think to previous similar things (this tought would have created a “mental aggression” because of memories of related social problems)).

“Мое пребывание на горнолыжном курорте Pioneer был очень интересный и полезный опыт для меня.
Я чувствовал в уверенности, и я принял их доброе предложение, чтобы попытаться взять лыжные уроки, которые выглядели почти невозможно для меня, до сих пор.
Я обнаружил ограниченность контроля моего сознания над моим телом.

Персонал знаком об аутизме, и они были терпеливы и attentionate, и это внесло значительные изменения для меня, и дал мне мужество.
Наконец, после нескольких часов, я мог даже ездить весь склон (более 1 км), с помощью инструктора.

Description :

Ceci est un message (vocal) d’Eric LUCAS (“autiste Asperger” / “autiste à haut niveau de fonctionnement”), notamment à l’attention des personnes autistes de France.

En toute simplicité et en toute franchise, dans un exposé improvisé de presque cinq heures, sont exposées (et même parfois dévoilées) de multiples facettes de la mauvaise prise en compte publique des autistes en France, des initiatives pour y remédier, ainsi que de nombreuses explications, confidences, anecdotes, pistes, avis etc.

Etant donné que les autistes et les familles connaissent déjà le problème (sans forcément toujours connaître certains détails révélés ici), cette sorte de “conférence spontanée” serait certainement utile également aux fonctionnaires, aux politiques et à toutes les personnes devant ou souhaitant contribuer à une meilleure équité sociale et une meilleure qualité de vie pour les personnes autistes, jeunes ou moins jeunes, quels que soient leurs degrés d’autisme ou d’adaptation sociale.

Une contribution longue mais riche… et qui n’est pas dédiée aux “médesinges” interneurs néfastes aux autistes (ou autres personnes handicapées).

(P.S. : Si vous trouvez ça “trop long”, considérez que c’est un “livre gratuit” plus facile à écouter qu’à lire… 

– Rien n’oblige à tout écouter en une seule fois.)


  • Le beau-père de Timothée n’a pas été “en prison” au sens strict du terme, mais il a passé 48 h en garde à vue, et a été ensuite astreint au contrôle judiciaire (devait rester proche de son domicile etc.) (et cela doit recommencer fin janvier 2016…)
  • Erreur (confusion) : la mère de Timothée est sortie de prison au bout de quelques jours, vers Noël (sous caution de 75000€), et donc le 11 janvier n’est pas la date de sa sortie de prison mais celle de sa comparution devant la justice en Irlande.
  • Le lien vers le “replay” de RTL (M. Baglan) n’est pas dans une lettre au Pdt de la République (PR) au sujet de Timothée, mais dans une lettre au Ministère de l’Education Nationale (qui a fini par répondre, suite aux lettres envoyées au PR).
    Et M. Baglan parle de “faits de violence” (et peut-être pas “d’agression” mais ce n’est guère mieux). De toute façon le mot “agression” revient un peu partout dans le dossier.

  • Quand il est dit que le taux de pertinence des réponses de la France à l’ONU est proche de zéro, cela concerne uniquement les sujets relatifs à l’autisme (ce qui ne veut pas dire que les autres réponses sont pertinentes ; elles n’ont pas été analysées).
  • Quand il est dit que la collaboration entre certains membres de l’Alliance Autiste s’est faite “quasiment obligatoirement”, c’est dans le sens de “quasiment automatiquement” (ou “spontanément”) en raison d’une grande complémentarité.
  • Et… ici en Russie il faisait -20°C au moment de l’enregistrement, mais -30°C au moment de sa publication, 2 jours plus tard…)

Invited at the mhGAP forum 2015 at the WHO headquarters in Geneva, Eric LUCAS (as an autistic “expert user”) has been able to give testimonies and points of view in various meetings and discussions during these two days.

For confidentiality reasons and other reasons, not all of his statements can be published, but here is a statement made by Eric, during the plenary closing session in the Executive Board room, on friday, 9 october 2015, about dignity and human rights in mental health treatment :

“What I understood in this forum, is that everyone is aware that dignity is essential for mental health treatement, and that there are many organizations and people trying to implement that, with action plans and education to human rights.
I find it very good, but from my experience, my user’s point of view, I know that it is not enough if it remains too much abstract and only rules, many times it is not enough to “reach” the person in her mental world, and then to treat her in a really adapted manner, respecting dignity and human rights.

For me, this topic of dignity and human rights, in itself, shows that, even with the best good will of the world, which I can see here, people who want to help have a kind of “protection barrier” which makes them consider the “mentally ill” persons as “deeply different”.
For instance, for the case of your own family you never speak about human rights, regarding its members.

I think that the first step to help the person, is to understand deeply, really, the person. Not with rules, codes, or science, but with good sense, and compassion.

Although I find all your work indispensable and great, I think that the best way

  • to respect the dignity and human rights
  • and to help the people to go better

is to treat them as you would treat the members of your own family, not otherwise.

Every sign of special treatement, even with good will, is felt by us as a discrimination, and inferiorizing, and it cannot help to go better.

The problem is that it is very difficult for “not different people” to put themselves in the shoes of “different people”, and of course it is frightening.

People who are suffering in their brain or mind, or heart, need to be helped without barriers, without judgement, like when you learn a second language you don’t decide that it is inferior or bad.

If you manage to remove the human barriers, as well as the physical barriers (like being in a hospital, which shows to the person that she is seen as “different” and “a problem”), then it will be much easier to help these persons, and then there will be no human rights or dignity problem, like in your family.
Some people are really mentally ill, and sometimes it’s more a matter of point of view.

The social system also, globally, is not sane, and many times this is why people fall into mental suffering.

For me, many problems come from the lack of understanding, and the fear.
And the solution is : real sincere efforts to understand each others, to communicate, to appreciate everyone, instead of putting people in boxes.

And I don’t know how to learn other languages without the help of the users, especially the bilingual ones.

There is a also a much longer statement by Eric, which was too long to be included in the official meetings, but it has been read by the staff and by the Director of the Mental Health Department, Shekhar Saxena, who (surprisingly) sent this letter (in french), explaining that “he would like to thank” Eric LUCAS and that “[his] explanations are very interesting and very useful”.

On june 30th and july 1st 2015 was organized the annual conference ‘Volunteerism – Avenue for social transformation” at the Palais des Nations in Geneva.

Below is an oral statement made by Eric LUCAS, about autism and volunteering :

Good afternoon, I hope that my testimony will be of some interest.

My name is Eric LUCAS, I am a high potential autistic, founder of Alliance Autiste, a self advocacy NGO in France, and representing Autistic Minority International, but what I say now is only my personal opinion.

It is very interesting to attend this conference and to see what volunteerism can do in the world.

Autistics are 1% of the world. Most of us are in special centers or hospitals, which is not decent and not a proper way for us to learn how to live with society.
I won’t give you a list of all the difficulties of autistics, which result mostly of the lack of knowledge and the fear.

A few autistic adults are doing a lot of efforts in order to organize and help ourselves, which is very difficult, because we have communication problems which make it very hard to cooperate, even between us (I did not even notice that Monique who runs also an autistics organization in England, and that I know,  is just behind me).

We are working for our cause from Monday to Sunday, from morning to evening, for most of us.

Some parents are trying to create their own schools or services.

We are overwhelmed and exhausted.

Despite all our efforts, it is difficult to progress without some support from the non autistic society, because we cannot do 100% of the efforts by ourselves.

We need some little reasonable accommodations, but we don’t know how to find it and to make the link between our world and all what I see here today.

In France, for instance, the government politely listens to us, but each time we ask for support, as a national organization, they don’t reply, or they reply that they don’t know what to propose.
They see us only as persons with disabilities who should be addressed by the health sector, they do not consider us as citizens, and it is because they exclude most autistics in special centers, that, indeed, autistics can never become real citizens, and that the mainstream society keeps being afraid by us, and full of misconceptions.

I’m sorry to say things looking like complaints, but we the high functioning autistics we know how to improve the life of autistics in the world, how to help them taking the path of their own special destiny, like any other human beings.

We have no problems working 10 to 14 hours per day, each day, but this is not enough without support.
I don’t know what to say or to ask or to suggest ; I guess that this is just a testimony about some difficulties, showing that the good will is not enough, and that some populations are forgotten.

We have a great potential.
But it is not enough.
Any contact or suggestion would be most welcome.
We would like also to provide our knowledges and experiences to Russia and their autistic population.
Sorry about this statement which is not pleasant and not fully in the topic, but I don’t know how to do better. We do what we can.

Regardless of autism, I think also that volunteerism can help a lot the young to feel part of society, to improve citizenship and to avoid some traps. In many rich countries, the youth is bored and loses itself in negative things. The governments barely understand. If things were better organized, with more good sense and involvement from the public services, everyone could have a better life, thanks to volunteerism. There are many ideas and things to do, but no one cares and no one listens.

On June 18 2015, Eric LUCAS gave some explanations during a conference about education at the United Nations (at the Palais des Nations in Geneva), presided by Mr. Kishore SINGH (UN Special Rapporteur on education).

Good afternoon, thank you very much Mr. Singh,

My name is Eric LUCAS and I am a member of Alliance Autiste, a small NGO made by high functioning autistics.
We try to help oursleves, and also to provide peer support to the younger autistics who still have lots of problems understanding how to live with society.
The social difficulties and other troubles of autistics can be reduced significantly if the proper measures are undertaken in early childhood.

1 % of the children are autistics. Not only they need some special accomodation to receive the usual, classical teaching, but also they need an additional kind of education, which I would call “social education”.
Indeed, one of our biggest problems is to learn how to live with society, to learn its’ codes and non-written conventions, which are strange to us, because they vary with the different groups of people, who all think that their system of rules is the only one correct.

In order to learn society, we need to live inside society, not in hospitals or institutions.

The governements either ignore the autistics (mostly because they don’t know what to do with them), or they park them in special medical places, where they have a kind of non-life, in a fixed artificial world which does not allow them to progress, to experience freely the path of their own destiny, like all of us here.

In France, a lot of public money is given to private institutions (so called “Instituts Médico-Educatifs”) which just keep the autistics instead of educating them, and this is probably an example of bad “private education” with absolutely no positive effect for the user, only suffering and exclusion, and lots of money wasted, whereas it could be used more much efficiently outside of this medical and secluded world.
We can say that these vulnerable children are exploited by a medical lobby, which of course does not want to change.
I talked about this with the health advisor of the french presidency, and even herself mentioned this “reluctancy” as a major problem.

We, the highly integrated autistics, can help society to help autistic children getting out of this nightmare, because we are like a bridge between both worlds, like a Rosetta stone : we understand you (not too bad), and we understand autistics of various levels (at least when they don’t speak we can guess approximately what is going on).

We talk to the governments and even the international organisations, but so far, Im’ sorry to say that I barely figure what to do and who can help us, or at least who really wants to help autistics, at least the youngest ones.

Puedo ver que hay mucha gente que habla español aqui, y quisieramos tambien hacer enlaces con America del Sur y otros paises, para ayudarle comprender los autistas y permitirle una vida con menos sufrimiento.

A l’occasion du “World Mental Health Day” en présence de Mr SAXENA, Mr YASAMI, et d’autres responsables du programme de santé mentale.

Mon intervention est un peu “chaotique” (faute de préparation et de sommeil – j’en ai écrit une bonne partie pendant que d’autres gens parlaient, ce qui n’est pas facile pour moi (TDA)) mais je pense avoir dit des choses importantes, et transmis ce que beaucoup d’autistes adultes veulent faire savoir.
Ce que j’ai dit a été bien apprécié (largement plus applaudi que les autres (8 secondes, d’après l’enregistrement)).
Comme à l’ONU, pas mal de personnes sont ensuite venues me dire à quel point elles avaient aimé ce que j’ai dit.
(Qui d’après moi était loin d’être parfait, mais bon… c’est mieux que rien).
Il y avait beaucoup de spontanéité et d’émotion dans ce que j’ai dit, et de toute évidence j’ai touché les gens (comme à l’ONU en juillet).
En gros j’ai mis les pieds dans le plat, direct ;-).
Mais ça a été bien perçu ; je pense que c’est vraiment utile de “secouer” un peu, et de nous exprimer par nous-mêmes.
D’ailleurs l’OMS soutient cela : la participation des usagers.

Durant mon séjour, j’ai eu de très bons contacts avec deux organismes importants qui défendent les handicapés (mais ceci ne concerne pas que la France).

Je remercie toutes les personnes de notre mouvement en France, que j’ai consultées la veille (n’ayant appris ma participation que 22h avant la conférence, et très occupé dans d’autres choses à l’ONU).
Toutes m’ont dit à peu près la même chose (“Dis-leur que l’autisme n’est pas une maladie”) et je crois avoir vraiment bien insisté là-dessus, en détachant mes mots, en expliquant.
Je n’ai pas pu transmettre tous les messages, et c’est déjà beau que j’aie pu parler aussi longtemps (8 mn).

Ladies and gentlemen,

It’s not easy for me to speak like this in public, because I’m autistic. I was diagnosed with Asperger’s syndrome. But I agreed to give my testimony today at the United Nations because of the way mental health laws are applied in France.

Twenty years ago, I went to a psychiatric hospital and asked for help because I was despaired, because of problems with society that made my life almost impossible. But the doctors apparently did not understand me (or believe me) and they rejected me. They even used the police to take me away from the hospital. Then, because of the suffering and injustice, I started to be slightly violent, shouting and crying, and finally the same hospital, after a decision taken within a few minutes, decided to detain me there, and this lasted for one year and 3 months!

I had no way to defend myself, no clue about how long it would take, no justifications, no hope, nothing, although I was asking for that all the time. Even my family or anyone would not have had the right to take me away from this nightmare.

Not knowing for how long you will be institutionalized is really awful, especially for an autistic person. Two or three doctors who are colleagues decide what they want, according to their fears, beliefs or whatever. You can’t keep your dignity, your pride.
